For fast, accurate transcription, MTs utilize foot pedals to control the transcriber or computer that plays the doctor dictations. When you step on one pedal, the dictation plays and you begin typing. Lifting your foot off the pedal, stops the dictation and rewinds it slightly so when you step on the pedal again, you hear a few words to let you know where you left off. You never have to stop typing your transcription. The second pedal lets you fast forward or reverse.
