The Call-In System eliminated the need to deliver cassettes. Doctors call in dictation by phone – or transmit pre-recorded dictations with a tape recorder that connects to a phone – to a call-in tape recorder at an MT service or the MT's home. MTs use a tape transcriber with headphone and foot pedal, and transcribe it on their computer. Transcription is still done in this method, but less and less every day.
