Why you want to Work at Home.
why work at home

To create more work at home jobs for all, employers need to know.
Public officials, who have the power to provide incentives to employers to hire more TeleCommuters need to know. They need to know the feelings of workers about this. Workers who could make up an important alternative workforce that business can depend upon to do the job and save business overhead expenses in this economy. A workforce who can also make a substantial difference in energy-savings and the amount of commuting pollution.

Add your reasons in the Comments. Petty personal reasons won't move anyone. Personal reasons like having at least one parent home while kids are growing up is a critical reason for working at home. Jails are filled with kids who grew up without having parental guidance at home. Colleges are missing the kids who didn't have parental influence and direction at home.

To start you thinking about your own reasons that are important enough to get the powers to be to take notice, visit Greenlight the Virtual Expressway, the road to more work at home jobs. A list of many of the benefits of TeleCommuting are there -- and even a way to let your public officials and the media know what they are.

The reasons why you want to be part of this workforce, added in the Comments below, will affect its very growth.

I know why I wanted to work at home.
Having at least one of us home with the kids and cutting down on commuting energy waste and pollution were great and important to me -- but paled in comparison to the wasted time traveling to work. It was about an hour each way on the train. I used to be able to get some work done during the trip, but at the end it just put me to sleep. But I couldn't count it as sleep. It wasn't a restful sleep, it was a dozing off that I fought to stay awake. I reached a point where I knew my bosses couldn't do without me, so I hit them with it...and was freed to work at home. The economy has hit us hard. Gas prices are through the roof. And we are polluting our environment with so many unnecessary vehicles on the road. It would be a relief to work from home with the technology we have. It is so worthwhile for companies and employees. The next step is to make it easier for Work at Home job seekers to find the legitimate sites with genuine job opportunities, because there are just too many work at home scammers out there. Thank you. Valerie

I became disabled about six years ago.
I had to retire on disability because I could no longer get out to go to work. I want to work and have the tools I need (landline phone and computer) but need to be able to find some thing I can do from home. Most opportunities offered online however seem to be scams. I'm hoping this website will be different. Muchadoaboutnothing

Muchado, unfortunately scams can hurt the advancement of the Work at Home Workforce. Job-seekers need to search safely at sites like Telecommuting Jobs that has an A+ Rating by the Better Business Bureau. All jobs are screened and selected by professional TeleCommuters. No profit schemes, no business opportunities, just genuine jobs.
For job-seekers with disabilities, the National Telecommuting Institute (NTI) prepares individuals with disabilities primarily for work as customer service representatives and as technical support agents and medical transcriptionists: http://www.nticentral.org/. Also try http://www.diversity-jobs.com, TecAccess and Convergys. But actually, if the computer and the internet allow you to function as well as a jobseeker who is not handicapped for the same position, you are in effect, not handicapped for the job. If you believe this is true, then let employers judge you equally with others based on the skills and experience you have to bring to the job. The best of the brains out there will not be excluded in the Work at Home Workforce. tjobs
